I was searching the net to find if death due to accident could be part of God’s plan and found your link.
Good that you escaped such a serious accident and is still alive. I recently lost my dad in a road accident again due to fault of a drunken truck driver.
Praise God for your life.

Thanks Ed! But don’t waste your time praying for me.
My comments are not made out of ignorance — but rather my ability to think for myself.
You also did not address the point of my post. Why credit your god for everything good that happens, then let her slide on everything bad? This goes way beyond good and bad things — it is about consistency. Be consistent.
If everything is gods plan — then give credit where credit is due.
Thank god for cancer, AIDS, earthquakes, hurricanes —- everything. Or are earthquakes caused by free will and corruption?
It is hard to take this seriously when someone like Curt Schilling says god helped him pitch game 6 of the World Series. So, god chose to ignore the genocide in the Sudan that day? Why break precedent I guess.
It is also very dangerous to characterize people who are not religious as not knowing. I could say the same about you. In fact, I would say that you probably do know — but have chosen ignorance instead.
It is much easier isn’t it? That way you are not responsible for your actions. It is someones elses plan. And, if you do screw up, you can be forgiven.
I will think for you.

Hi Andrew,
I’m so glad God’s hand was on you and kept you safe. I cannot help but to think your Dad must have put in the good word for you.
Regarding DonnieTCB (earlier in this blog); he did not experience your accident and get God’s blessing so he’ll never know. If men (engineers) were so smart (and, BTW, I am a degreed engineer) there would not be any accidents.
Some people seem to get it all wrong. The world left to itself is corrupt; there is nothing good in it; everything observed goes to decay; perhaps the question is not “why does God allow bad to happen”, but instead should be ” why does God take the time to cause anything good to happen”.
Just before Christ died he prayed that those who crucified him would be forgiven because they “knew not” what they were doing. Sophomoric commentary on thing religious by people like DonnieTCB are not done so out of malice; it is simple ignorance and we should pray for them with kind concern.

Andrew — This is the first time I have read your blog since we left for Sacramento. The irony just hit me — what topic did we have to write on for the news writing competition? A program aimed at eliminating drunk driving.
As for your post — I am not trying to be a cynical asshole, but why not thank the engineers who designed your car for saving your life — and blame God for the accident?
It’s just one of those things I don’t get about theists.

Glad to hear that it wasn’t. I like to think of myself as a safe (yet very virgin) driver, but the prospect of being almost-killed when doing everything right is frightening. The photograph of your car was simply chilling.
There have been, like, 3 people from RBV killed in driving accidents in the past couple of months (that I know of). What a scary time.

that totally sucks, but andrew what about the guys car that hit you, wouldn’t the police beable to find him through dmv records? or was the car stolen? can’t you like get arrested for a hit and run? how do you know he was drunk? im so mad for you, seriously, some people make me so angry…you could have been killed and quit frankly you have a lot going for you that shouldn’t be wasted.

i dont know u but i ran into your website while searching for maps of earl warren. Anyhow just want to say i had the same experience last summer in LA when a drunk driver ran into my Celica in the middle of the day and totally wrecked it. Also the driver who hit me didn’t have insurance either so I got nothing back. Lucky i came out without a scratch. Sorry for your lost though. It was a beautiful car.

Thank God you’re fine. Did it happen around North County San Diego? There are so many crazy drivers around here. And then drunk on top of that… I hope the other person gets his license taken away permanently and spends some time in jail.
