Trapped…

@andrewphelps: Trapped…

Sad dog

Today my father returned from a four-day trip to the Pacific Northwest, an emerging favorite place for him to visit. He brought home a lifted, refreshing spirit, something I have not seen around here in days.
He told me he felt guilty not being in San Diego during the disaster, but he didn’t seem too upset. I envy him. Traveling is just what I need. I have felt utterly trapped here. Everything is sad and scary. I don’t like it.
Sheriff Kolender looked particularly weary and exhausted during his media briefing today. He comes on television every day to tell us who died and what’s burning. It looks like historic Julian might be saved but Palomar Mountain could be doomed.
The air quality has gotten much better due to the high winds — but those winds aren’t good for stopping the fire. Rain clouds, however, are. They miraculously blanketed the skies today, but all they could squeeze out was mere drizzle. Wind: bad. Rain clouds: very good.

    i’ve decided to be a duck for halloween(it’s one of those costumes that can be a full body suit for a little kid, but a t-shirt for me… so it takes a lot of work), and this girls courtney (…you have no clue) is going to be ziggy stardust… should make for a fun time out. and yes the “end of the world party” is still on. talk to lizzy marshall for details.

    I’m glad you feel pretty. (Pretty scary, that is…)
