I have definitely been treated to a lot of tours lately. On Monday night, Rob Branch showed off his radio station at Palomar College.
Tonight, my RTV class was very lucky to tour the Educational Television building at Palomar College. Why is this a big deal? Imagine that your high school or college is across the street from the NBC studios in San Diego, and you score a backstage pass inside. ETV receives funding from the college, but is not a product of the school. The facility is the sole distributor for educational television on the DISH network, as well as the primary broadcast center for all community colleges statewide. It boasts an impressive array of facilities, including an US$11 million e-conferencing center. With that in mind, take a look at the photos I was able to get. I wish I could have gotten more, but all kinds of personnel were breathing down my neck to keep moving. Some areas, including the Network Operations Center, were confidential.
